More quilting

So, to make me feel really old, my goddaughter decided to turn 21! Alright, it was inevitable, but made me feel terribly old nonetheless.
So, off to Amitie for some sophisticated, yet vintage fabric for the girl who doesn't wear jeans!
Fabric, tick; pattern, tick. A whirlwind of sewing, tick!
So, I'm pretty sure Breanna loved her quilt. I've been told it takes pride of place on her bed!

Wedding Adventures

I thought it was high time I posted about my friend Laurie's wedding.
Wanting to make a special gift, I decided upon a quilt for her and Ryan.
Laurie and Ryan love to roadtrip, and trawling through blogland, I found a Cluck Cluck Sew Quilt called 'The Roadtrip Quilt'. Perfect. I chose some of the blues and greens from Denyse Schmidt's Picnics and Fairgrounds range.

My friend Paula helped me to finish off the quilt by screenprinting a label for it. Now to have some more labels designed for all of my quilts!

The wedding was a destination wedding, so I packed up my quilt and headed off to Dubbo.
I had a lovely weekend meeting Laurie and Ryan's families and friends and enjoying a bit of a holiday. The wedding took place at the Dubbo Zoo, where we got to see the animals and enjoy some fresh air and sunshine.

The bride showed up on a golf cart after feeding the
giraffes in her peacock print gumboots!

I made lots of new friends (and made sure we knew where
the toilets were!!)

I found Mr Shuffles relatives!

And not to forget the recovery BBQ the next day

Such a fun weekend. Congrats Laurie and Ryan xx

Sydney Town - Sally's Hens

A rather large weekend has been had! Off to Sydney Friday night and lovingly met by Laurie and a bottle of wine. I think that set the tone for the weekend!! Off to Windsor on Saturday morning for some balloon blowing and general house decorating, then Sally's arrival!!
Lunch out  - hot rocks and a bottle of vino, a flashing "Bride to be" sash and a tiara! Bridal embarrassment complete!
Home to mini manis and pedis, a tarot reader and some very "tasteful" entertainment.
Oh, of course some fun (competitive!!) games - Bachelorette Charades and Toilet Paper Brides.
Some fun food to go with the bubbles - cookies to decorate, interesting chocolate shapes and a Full Monty cake to end all cakes! Check out the butt!!

A sleepover (ie, crashing out on the couch!) and an awesome breaky outside in the morning. Thanks Fiona.
Such a fun weekend, meeting all of the Sydney girls and catching up with Laurie and Sally.
Love it!

Some new finished quilts

Yay, quilts # 2 and 3 are now finished with #4 still on it's way.
Number 2 is another baby quilt for a yet to be born baby girl. Nice and bright on the front and some soft pointelle cotton on the back.

Quilt #3 is finally one for me. It's getting lots of use on my bed and is perfect for cosying up watching tv.

Note to self: learn to take proper photos of my finished quilts.

Next on the to do list: more quilts and some creative wedding presents maybe!

Edit: Sunny is the recipient of the baby quilt - bright colours for her bright name!!

A new quilt

So, my first shot at a Disappearing 9 Patch quilt is cracking along. Have had the requisite visit to the lounge room floor and decided upon the final layout. Onto the sewing together then to decide on how to quilt it????

Sally and the Alpaca

My last full day in Sydney today. I headed out to Penrith to catch up with my friend Fiona then out to Blaxland in the beautiful Blue Mountains to see Sally.
We had a good old natter, coffee and a fantastic lunch in Wentwerth Falls.  We then headed into Leura for a nosey around the gorgeous shops. I could have bought so much, especially the blankets. Can't think what I would have needed from the Alpaca Shop, except for a photo of Sal and an alpaca!!
Home to Melbourne tomorrow.

A trip to see Mr Shuffles

well, am in Sydney now and can I just say, Sydney - are you trying to take Melbourne's "4 seasons in one day" tag off us?!!!
Yesterday we headed to the Taronga Zoo. It has to be one of my most exciting days on holidays!!
A gorgeous video will be posted when I get home to my camera cord, but for the time being, here's my favourite man - Mr Shuffles.

And I had to get myself a "Take Home Mr Shuffles" when I left the zoo (oh so grown up for a 33 year old to buy a stuffed toy!!)
Off to the Blue Mountains tomorrow to see Sally...yippee!!

Another Lazy Day...is this how 2011 will continue?

So, today has been another delightful 2011 day. Woke up to blue skies and warm sunshine.
As every Sunday should begin, I headed off for coffee and the Sunday paper.
Was pleased to read my horoscope that last year is well behind me and it's going to be a productive year. Jan 4 is set to be a great day, so says the Sunday Telegraph!!
We'll see.
Headed off to a Psychic Fair in Southport, amazingly a psychic told a mother her 9 year old will do many things in her life. Who's have thought it!!
Off to the beach for a chase of little blue crabs then in the car attempting to get to Seaworld, only to run into teenager central heading to a music festival. Apparently matching t-shirts for friends are the way t go.
Must check fashion sense when I get home!!
Anyway, a lazy swim, finished reading my Christmas book and am ready for dinner to celebrate my last night as a 32 year old.
Yippee...

New Year's Day 2011

So, the scary day is here. The day where we all say "I can't believe it's a new year again!".
We are up on the "GOLD" Coast. It's not so Gold today though.
The drizzly rain set in hours ago and shows no sign of letting up.
We had a swim in the pool though this morning. Threw some random children around.
(must remember to not start a game if you don't want to continue it for the next hour!)
Anyway, Laurie and I got to wear our new "towel dresses" which work a treat.
Last night we wandered into town to watch the fireworks. 10 minutes of booms, oohs and aahs!!

So, the next few days will consist of reading my new book, more relaxing, swimming and a trip to Wet 'n Wild to celebrate my, uhum, 33rd birthday.
Ouch!
